Prepositions of Time and Place: AT, IN, ON.

In show 10, I played with the idea about the propositions ‘At, In and On’ coming from the Egyptian gods. It was about the use of prepositions At, In and On. Here are some examples to help you remember their use. Or you can go back and listen again to ‘Atinon’.

Section 1 – AT
Used for: specific times and places
Time:
• at 7 o’clock
• at lunchtime
• at night
Place:
• at the bus stop
• at school
• at the corner

Section 2 – IN
Used for: months, years, long periods, and enclosed spaces
Time:
• in the morning
• in May
• in 2025
Place:
• in the kitchen
• in Spain
• in the box

Section 3 – ON
Used for: days, dates, and surfaces
Time:
• on Monday
• on my birthday
• on sick leave
Place:
• on the table
• on the wall
• on the floor

Tip: Think of AT as a point, IN as inside something, and ON as on a surface.
